Telegraph Fantasy Cricket is back
The Telegraph have launched their fantasy cricket game for the summer months and this site will be supporting players again. The game is being run by a different company, so there's a new managers office (see the links box for both old and new). The scoring remains 100% factually based, plus they've added several new bonus opportunites for one-day matches which improves the viability of players who shine at the short form. Wickets and Stumpings have gone up 5 points each too and you can choose between 5 batsmen and 1 all rounder or 4 batsmen and 2 all rounders. In addition to the main league (prizes now down to 10th) and super leagues they have the runs, wickets and ducks side-competitions plus two brand new ones focussing purely on the Friend's Provident Trophy and then the Twenty20 Cup. Because of the FPT competition TFC starts a week earlier this season (so you don't miss the bank holiday one-day matches). You can select teams now ready to start scoring on April 29th.
Under site resources (in the links box to the right) you'll find the county cricket fixture grid showing who plays (or misses) each week. The TFC 2008 button on the left takes you to the traditional player points pages where figures under columns A and B are for the first two weeks of the season (we're in week B now). Other statistics are planned as the season progresses, so watch this space.

More New Players (in TFF!)
Just when all our thoughts are turning towards the fantasy cricket season (more news on that shortly), TFF have gone and added in eight new players. They've only got 4 weeks left to score in, but in at least one case it's a regular starter, so I guess it's warranted.

May TV fixtures announced (at last)
The lack of re-arranged matches after 95% of the EPL were prematurely ejected from the FA Cup has certainly caused problems for the broadcasters, plus the fact that Sky and Setanta had to agree on a fair split of matches, meaning that the final TV matches have been announced very late. Three matches have been moved from 3rd May to either Sunday 4th or Monday 5th. Full details are now on the fixture grid. Unfortunately the Portsmouth match has not been moved so there is no final 3 for 1 opportunity.
Note that (a) Chelsea and Everton were moved a few weeks ago from Saturday 19th April to Thursday 17th April to enable Sky to fulfil their obligations to screen sufficient matches; and (b) none of the matches on Sunday 11th May will be moved as the final league games must all kick-off at the same time. Unlike recent seasons though, it's quite likely that not a lot will still need to be decided on that day.

Another fixture change
The Tyne and Wear derby has moved from April 19th to April 20th so that it can be televised live by Sky.

Fixture changes for CLQF and FACSF
Following todays draw for the remaining rounds of the Champions League, a few fixtures have moved forward a day. Firstly Man United and Aston Villa will play on 29th March (instead of 30th). Chelsea and Middlesbrough will now play on 30th March (instead of 31st). Man City and Chelsea are due to play on April 6th, but with the second leg on April 8th, this match will almost certainly be moved back to April 5th, so I've moved it on the fixture grid already.
Finally, Portsmouth's match with West Ham has moved one day from Monday April 7th to Tuesday April 8th. This is because Portsmouth are playing in the FA Cup on Saturday April 5th.
Other changes are likely once the Champions League semi-finalists are known (at least one EPL team will be there).
